Kim Lyons is a native Northern Californian who has lived in lower Manhattan for the last 15 years. While in college she followed her French roots to Paris to study fine art, and returned to California to continue her education at UCLA. After graduating, she moved to New York and studied jewelry design at F.I.T. while working in art galleries. Her first collection of unisex rings was launched in 1996 and her designs were sold in boutiques and design stores in NYC, California, and Japan.
The natural landscape of the California coast and the calm soothing colors of the region combined with the urban pulse of the streets of New York are a constant inspiration reflected in her jewelry designs. She has applied her fine art skills into creating limited jewelry collections infusing different techniques; including the lost wax process to design exquisitely styled hand carved sculptural rings in gold and silver. She also hand picks and hunts for the most beautifully colored and interesting cuts of the highest quality gemstones for her jewelry collections.
Lately, she's been experimenting with eco-friendly recycled silver and one of a kind stones that she finds herself locally and then has them cut into interesting minimal shapes evoking the modernist forms from her artistic past.
